1st of September and we are nearing completion of the build of Lucky Sevens Procharter P3
9 meter powerboat,
Its been 2 months since I have updated this blog and its been hammer and tongs since that in an effort to complete the build,
Decks were laid and painted with flowcoat and carborundum grit for the non slip properties,
Adams talents in painting came in handy here to get a perfect finish to the decks in mid grey,
Jerry O Dea was brought on board to fit felt carpet to the internals of the wheelhouse and make a leather headliner for the ceiling, we finished the internal with teak trim and fitted a teak step
inside the wheelhouse door,
With the help of Paddy's buddy Chris I completed the 12 volt wiring system fitted 2 x 140Ah batteries with a massive 1150 Cold cranking amps. I used 70mm Sq battery cable from the batteries to engine and 35mm Sq to bring the power up ahead to the helm, I also have one 100Ah battery up ahead for the Windlass.
This will reduce the voltage drop and insure everything works properly,
Myself and Sylvo set about fitting the marine spec windows we go from Rex Marine Windows in the UK and when they were fitted it transformed the look of her again,
Next we fitted the 4G broadband radar I picked up from Paul Grimes at Coastal rides and a radar reflector aswell as that,
I purchased LED lighting for the cabin areas and two powerful LED's for light out on the deck,
We also fitted a 360 degree search light on the wheelhouse with remote control from inside,
6 man Offshore life raft and 2 Orange Life rings were fitted to the roof of the wheelhouse,
I also picked up 6 Crewsaver 275 N Hammer activated life jackets and a Kannad Epirb on Ebay last week these are vital components on the boat for extra safety,
I will need to get flares and a man over board system next spring ahead of getting my P3 Licence for the department of Marine next February,
We reinforced the engine box with marine ply then laminated the whole thing with two layers of 450g matting, fitted lead barrier to the engine lid and fire proof insulation and the set about fitting the stainless hardware which certainly gave it a real classy look,
I added thread master no slip rubber to the engine lid so now people can walk on it without risk of slipping,
On the transom we bolted on 2 x 4KG anodes to which I will ground the boats electrics to.
The next thing I needed was a means to get out to her on the mooring and also a decent mooring to put out in the bay,
After searching on the Internet for a few weeks I can across a small 2.8 meter rib that needed some small repairs, I quickly went and bought it and also purchased a 9.9 Mercury 4 stroke to power it from a nice guy up the Midlands,
I ordered 15 meters of 36mm Octiplat rope with Buoy which they treaded the rope through and spliced loops on each end and 5 meters of 20mm galvanised chain with shackles from Swan Net Gundry in Killybegs,
The also send down 5 links of 36mm thick link chain which I embedded in the concrete of the mooring,
I threaded the chain through a 25 mm reinforced bar the length of the tire that I filled with concrete.
I used a 4 foot dumper tyre for the mooring when filled will weigh about 800 kg,
Rainer Kraus a German fisherman from Kinvarra will be dropping that out to Parkmore for me next week,
So Next Saturday 7th of September is the planned day for the launch at Renville pier,
A Huge Thanks to everymore who helped out with the built,
