Fire rating Insulation and 12 volt Wiring

Decks going down

So first week of June and the decks are going down, at long last !!
all the wiring is complete under deck and most of the wiring in the wheelhouse done too,
Plumbing is also complete under deck with bilge pumps and wash down pump plumbed in,
I also fitted two high water bilge alarms sourced on ebay last week,

Nav Lights Aqua signal series 40 fitted all round and wired in, Bilge blower is wired in and working,
Cabin lights with red and white bulb also fitted and Led cabin lights to be fitted this week,

The fire rating of the two compartments each side of the engine room was a real challenge,
I lined the sides and under deck with 50mm foil faced rockwool fire rated insulation and fixed it with
stainless steel screws and nylon washers to get a really good fix,
It was a tight squeeze to fit in the 24 inch x 24 inch compartments but its done now and thank god for that,

So the Vetus vent is also fitted on the roof and a double trumpet horn also,
The stainless fittings really show her off nicely,
The rear deck and next deck fore are laminated from inside and out and the next two decks are being laminated later this week,
I have ordered four aluminium deck hatches to be made this week 3 Off 700mm x 500mm and
one 500mm x500mm, Aluminium frames and chequered plate lids with stainless latches
They should look great and also make use of the storage space under deck,

Some more grab rails and bollards and cleats to be fitted and each one looking better that the one before,
The engine box is off being spayed grey at the moment  by Daniel and will be getting fitted next week all going well.
I will be ordering some nice shiny 50mm x 70mm hinges and latches from CH Marine later this week for the engine box lid and fitting the marine grade gas struts that came from America earlier this year
And another big box of stuff coming in from ASAP supplies tomorrow to help keep up the progress of the 12 volt wiring which is there or thereabouts,
Internally in the wheelhouse the door in to the fore cabin is also hung and most of the cockpit instruments fitted and functional  It all really coming together now,
Buddy of mine Chris helped out with the wiring and we put the Lewmar windlass going last Friday in this setup I have deck switches fitted along with a toggle switch in the wheelhouse for optional switching,

I am lining the inside of the wheelhouse with some nice stretchy dark grey commercial carpet that will contrast with the light grey fixtures and give a cosy feel to the wheelhouse,

The plan for June is lay the rest of the decks and start with fitting the wheelhouse wall,
Then its on to cutting out for the windows which will be fun,
once they are fitted we will nearly be ready for sea trials,

Looking at fitting a Lowrance broadband radar and searching the web for a good deal on one at the moment,
I have nearly everything we need to finish her so we could do it in three to four weeks with a push
Might get to run some sea trials sometime in August or latest September

Check back in for more progress over the next few weeks,
